Avalanche Awareness Talks

“I only ski at the edge of the pistes”.

This is a common response. Here’s a story.

My son was on a chairlift at La Plagne and saw a group of ski lift operators and the ski patrol “probing” an avalanche tip about 50 – 100m from the piste. It turned out they were probing for a father and son who had skied at the edge of the piste. They weren’t using avalanche transceivers. It took about 40 minutes to locate them and then dig them out. The son died.

If you, your group of friends or family would like a multimedia talk on how to reduce the risk of becoming a statistic this winter please contact me. It may save a life.

Description

The “Talk”

My avalanche awareness talk lasts approximately 1 hr 30 minutes. The presentation includes videos, pictures and anecdotes from my own experience. It draws on the expertise of the best experts in the field of avalanche education.

Learn how to reduce the risk of being avalanched. Reduce the risk by choosing where, when and how to travel in avalanche terrain.

Understand how the first 15 minutes after an avalanche are critical.

Where?

I will come to your chalet or hotel equipped with a laptop, LCD projector, sound system and screen (if you don’t have a suitable wall).

Staff Avalanche Talks

If you are a tour or chalet operator you may wish to consider an avalanche awareness talk as part of your staffs pre-season training course. Please contact me to arrange a private talk.

Fee

My fees depend on the location and number of people. Please contact me to discuss your needs and for a quote.
