Join me for 6 days guided via ferrata in the Hautes-Alpes.

Each day we will take in a via ferrata in this area. The final choice of route will depend on current conditions and the best route for the group.

We will almost certainly visit the gorges of the River Durance not far from the town of Briancon.

There will be time to explore the local villages and enjoy being in this beautiful area of France.

Gorges de la Durance

The backdrop to this via ferrata is the thundering waters of the River Durance. At one time this via ferrata had the reputation of being one of the hardest in France – no longer. A classic of the area. (1200m)

Freissinieres

“La Grande Falaise” is the name given to this via ferrata, the first route created in France in 1988. (1550m)

Les Vigneaux

This via ferrata is on of the oldest in France (along with that at Freissinieres and le Lauzet). The via ferrata is in a fantastic position close to the village of Vallouise. The via ferrata is split into two sections from mid-height and we can either do the easier “Le Colombier” or the harder and longer “La Balme”. (1630m)

La Crete de la Combe and the Pra Premier – Arvieux

Today we are in the Queyras mountain range in the commune of Arvieux. (2279m). Alternatives: Chateau-Queyras (1330m)

La Croix de Toulouse

A via ferrata that overlooks the town of Briancon and the fortifications of the old town. Another classic of the area. (1967m)

Les Orres

Two via ferrata that overlook the Lac de Serre-Poncon. (1850m)

Aiguillette du Lauzet

A mountain finish to this via ferrata with spectacular views over the Ecrins with several summits culminating at over 4000m. (2611m)
