About Me: A Lifetime in the Mountains
Born and raised in the breathtaking landscapes of the Lake District, I have dedicated over 20 years to climbing, mountaineering, and instructing. After living and working in the Lake District, Scotland, and Wales, I have now made my home in Chamonix, nestled in the heart of the French Alps.
Passions and Pursuits
My primary passion has always been climbing and mountaineering, but in recent years, I’ve embraced the world of ultra-marathon running. Competing in events like the CCC, the Aiguille Rouge race, and the Chamonix Marathon has deepened my connection to the mountains and tested my endurance in extraordinary ways.
Qualifications and Experience
I hold the highest level of UK mountaineering instructional qualifications, including:
- Mountaineering Instructor Certificate (MIC)
- International Mountain Leader Award
With over two decades of experience, I offer expert personal guidance in rock climbing and ice climbing, drawing on an extensive career that spans:
- Training and assessing for the National Governing Body’s Mountain Leader Award (MLA Scheme) and the British Military.
- Working as a technical advisor for PGL in high ropes activities.
- Leading expeditions across the UK, the Alps, and South America.
Notable Achievements
My work has allowed me to share my passion for mountaineering with countless others, including as a contributor to the British Mountaineering Council’s Alpine Essentials DVD.
Whether scaling rock faces, exploring icy terrain, or racing across alpine trails, my goal is to inspire others to connect with the mountains and achieve their own adventures.
